There’s nothing more annoying than a pause in your favorite Apple Music playlist. Whether you’re using Airpods or listening to music through speakers, repeated pauses can quickly turn a relaxing experience into a frustrating one. The culprit could be a bug, a network glitch, or something else entirely.
I tried a few methods that worked for me and created this guide with everything you can try too. Let’s take a look at them below.

1. Force restart your iPhone
Time needed: 2 minutes
Sometimes, a hard restart can be enough to get your iPhone and apps like Apple Music working again. Follow these steps:
2. Check the network connection
If your device does not have a proper network connection, music in the Apple Music app may continue to pause or buffer.
You can open a browser and check if the Wi-Fi is working properly. You can also connect to your mobile data and try restarting Music.
3. Reset network settings
If you’re having more persistent connectivity issues, consider resetting your network. This option deletes your saved Wi-Fi passwords and Bluetooth connections, so make sure you have those handy before proceeding.
4. Turn Bluetooth on and off
If you primarily listen to music through wireless headphones, turning Bluetooth off and back on may resolve minor connection issues.
5. Download the track and try playing it again
If the problem occurs only with specific songs, try downloading them for offline playback. This way, you won’t have to rely on any internet connection and they may not stop playing due to buffering.
6. Disable lossless audio
Lossless audio streaming consumes a lot of bandwidth, whether you’re connected to Wi-Fi or your mobile data. So if you don’t have a strong connection, your music may pause several times to buffer, which can be very annoying. It’s best to disable it while you troubleshoot the problem.
7. Delete and reinstall the Apple Music app
If none of the above methods work, there may be something wrong with the Apple Music app. It could be that the server is running slow or there is a bug that is disrupting functionality.
Anyway, in such cases, you can delete and reinstall the app from the App Store.
8. Update iOS
Outdated software can sometimes cause app compatibility issues. Make sure your iPhone has the latest version of iOS installed:
App compatibility issues may also occur if you are running a beta version of iOS. Therefore, it is best to upgrade to a more stable version or wait for Apple to release the next stable update.
Generally, if none of the above methods resolve the issue with Apple Music, you can contact Apple’s customer service executive, who will be able to provide you with further troubleshooting steps.
