“Fleishman Is in Trouble” author Taffy Brodesser-Akner will reteam with Susannah Grant and Sarah Timberman to develop “Long Island Compromise” for Apple TV+ with Richard Plepler also executive producing.

After a multi-platform bidding war, Apple won the rights to develop the dark family drama for television. As she did with Hulu’s Fleishman, Brodesser-Akner will adapt her novel (out July 9 from Random House) for Apple and will executive produce alongside Susannah Grant (Erin Brockovich), Sarah Timberman and former HBO boss Richard Plepler and his Eden Productions.
Long Island Compromise follows a suburban American family and the lasting impact the patriarch’s week-long kidnapping has on his wife and three children 40 years later.
Brodesser-Akner, an award-winning New York Times journalist, adapted her debut novel, Fleishman, for Disney-backed Hulu in 2022. The limited series starring Jesse Eisenberg, Claire Danes, Lizzy Caplan and Adam Brody is certified new. Rotten Tomatoes with a score of 87 percent among critics and an 80 percent rating among viewers. The drama earned five Primetime Emmy nominations, including one for Brodesser-Akner’s writing.
