An Apple AirTag is arguably the best Find My tracker for iPhone users as it features many offerings and a wide range of coverage.
One of the useful features available in iPadOS and iOS 17 is the ability to share an AirTag with another user who also has a strong interest in tracking.
Allows up to six people to track the same AirTag from their iDevices simultaneously. To share an AirTag on your iPhone or iPad, follow the simple steps below.
There are many use cases for Apple’s tracker and these are some of the most creative.
How to share an AirTag with someone else on iPhone or iPad
Sharing an AirTag from iOS or iPadOS is quite simple
1. Start the fiFind Mepp on your iDevice.
2. Navigate to the Items and tap the AirTag you want to share.
3. Touch the Add Person button.
4. Touch the Continue button.
5. Type a contact name and press Send after selecting one. Now both you and the new user can see the AirTag location, as long as you also have iOS 17 on your device.
How to stop sharing an AirTag
If you change your mind, you can always stop sharing an AirTag
To revoke someone’s access:
1. Tap the person’s name on the Share this AirTag section.
2. Click the Eliminate button.
3. Confirm by touching the stop sharing button.
4. The other user will no longer be able to see the AirTag location in the Find My app. If that particular AirTag is still with them, they will receive a notification saying AirTag found moving with you which is one way someone could know they are being tracked.
Only the original owner who linked the AirTag to their Apple ID can remove sharing permissions. People you grant access to can’t revoke permissions themselves.
Why AirTag sharing can be essential
As our steps reveal, sharing an AirTag with someone on iOS or iPadOS is extremely easy. It can be ideal for those who share the same concern about an article. You may want to leave an AirTag on your family pet’s collar or a shared item like the TV remote or a keychain. Before iOS and iPadOS 17, families who shared an AirTag only received alerts if the AirTag became separated from its owner. There was no real way to see the location of AirTags without asking the owner to verify it manually.
By sharing an AirTag, those living in the same household can finally silence unwanted tracking notifications caused by a tagged item that multiple members tend to carry with them. Please note that you can only share your AirTag with up to five other users at a time, not a larger group.
