Like modern MacBook Pro laptops, Apple‘s latest MacBook Air models support fast charging that can provide up to 50% battery in just 30 minutes. However, by default, both sizes of Airship with a charger that does not support this feature. Here are the requirements and details on how to fast charge your MacBook Air.
The default charger included with the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air M2 and M3 laptops is the 30W single USB-C charger or the 35W dual-port USB-C charger.
For the base 13-inch Air, it costs $20 to purchase the 70W power adapter that will quickly charge the laptop, but the mid-level and custom 13-inch machines and all 15-inch MacBook Air models can be upgraded free of charge to the 70W power adapter.
The tricky part is that you have to be aware of this when you buy.
But whether you already have a MacBook Air or want to get the dual-port USB-C charger for more flexibility and choose a higher wattage one for when you need it, you can always use a third-party USB-C brick, just make sure to They are 70W or more.
You can pick up Apple’s new 70W GaN charger independently for $59. A drawback for third-party chargers is that the MacBook Air requires 67/70W or more, which means you may need to bump up chargers to 100 W since 30, 65, and 100 W are the most common options. As a refresher, the 14-inch MacBook Pro needs at least 96W with a USB-C or USB-C to MagSafe 3 power cable for fast charging.
The 16-inch MacBook Pro requires a 140W power adapter with a USB-C to MagSafe 3 cable.
