This article explains how to purchase ebooks on an iPhone or iPad using the Books app in iOS 10.0 and iPadOS 13 or later. It includes information about reading ebooks and tips for purchasing free books and samples.

How to buy eBooks on iPhone or iPad
Purchasing eBooks through the Books app is easy. Follow these steps to create your eBook library.
Open the Books application.
Tap Bookshop.
You can also select Audiobooks to see those options or tap Look for to enter a specific element.
Find and select the eBook you want to order to open its information screen.
Tap Buy and Then confirm the order to purchase the e-book.
If the title you chose is free, select Get to download it to your device.
Just like the App Store and subscriptions on your iPhone or iPad, Books purchases use your iCloud payment method. You can view details and make updates from Settings.

How to read your e-books
If you purchased a book or downloaded a free eBook, the book information screen changes to display a Read button. Tap Read to start reading the book.
Another way to read a book is to go to the Library. All the books you add to the Books app are stored there, including books you’ve ordered from the Books app, transferred to your device from other apps, or copied to your iPad or iPhone.
Once you’re in the Library, select the book you want to read. It will open immediately. Swipe left and right to turn pages or tap once to access the menu.
To return to your other eBooks, tap once to display the menu, then select the back arrow or X.
Tips for buying eBooks with Apple Books
The Apple Books app offers many features. Here are some tips:
- Get a free sample:Go to the book download page and tap Sample.
- Download free books:Apple Books contains free e-books. To download free books, go to the book’s information page and tap Get.
- Find eBooks: Go to the Explore sections Area at the top of the Bookstore tab. Find new and trending books, eBooks that will be released soon, books categorized in a specific genre, the most popular eBooks that people are buying, and free eBooks.
- Do more:Each eBook download page has options to send an eBook as a gift, add it to your Want to Read catalog, see more eBooks (and audiobooks) by that author, see top eBooks in the same genre, see when the book was last updated, and read the system requirements needed to read the book.
- Please wait for the download:Some books take a while to download, so please wait a while until they are fully available to read. Please watch the download progress bar for those books.
- Update your Apple ID:An Apple ID is required to make eBook purchases from the Books app. Reset your Apple ID password if you don’t know it.
