Google I/O is gearing up for its launch on May 14, 2024. With it, the company is looking to make big announcements about artificial intelligence and possibly upcoming hardware. This guide will detail how you can go live to watch Google I/O 2024.
What to expect from Google I/O in 2024
Some of what we originally thought would be on the Google I/O docket has already become a reality. The company already announced the Google Pixel 8a, taking its place as the latest budget option in the Pixel line.
A dockless Pixel Tablet variation was also available, which could be considered a lesser hardware version.
With those two offerings out of the way, does that mean Google will take the time on stage to tease the Pixel 9 and its three variations?

The phone already has a lot of leaks and rumors surrounding it, although it is likely to hit the market in October, following Google’s general launch schedule.

To answer, we are not sure if Google plans to introduce more hardware. We imagine more AI announcements will emerge from I/O, particularly in terms of expanding features into more applications that are used daily. Google Maps or Search would fall into that category and would benefit from deeper integration with Google LLMs.
How to watch Google I/O
Google has historically held its I/O event in Mountain View, CA, the company’s longtime headquarters outside San Francisco. From that amphitheater, we may see some of the announcements we expect, as well as possibly trailers and mentions that haven’t been rumored yet.
The main conference will begin at 10 a.m. PT on Tuesday, May 14 (5 p.m. UTC). The event will be performed live from the stage to a small audience of people. The event will be broadcast in several ways.
There are two ways to watch Google’s keynote at 10 a.m. PT. The first way is to visit the website (io. google/2024) sometime before the keynote begins. A countdown clock is visible before the event, so you can keep track of how much time you have.
The second way is through Google’s YouTube channel, which we recommend and is shown below. The website pulls the live stream from YouTube to get the final result, and watching it that way proves to be the most up-to-date method. For the deaf and hard of hearing, Google will also stream an ASL-interpreted version of the event here.

Google I/O 2024 will be an exciting event. We expect to see some interesting AI and hardware developments, or maybe both.
