After dominating the charts, touring the world, and releasing her concert film, Taylor Swift has been named Apple Music Artist of the Year.
The platform unveiled its year-end lists ranking the best songs of 2023, the best Shazams, and, for the first time, the songs that music fans sang along to the most using Apple Music Sing.
Swift was the most streamed artist by Apple Music subscribers, simultaneously setting a new record for the most listeners for any artist in a single year on Apple Music.
Bad Bunny was Artist of the Year last year. “In the first 10 months of 2023, he saw 65 songs reach Apple Music’s Global Daily Top 100, more than any other artist,” the service said in a press release.
Apple’s Top Global Songs chart was topped by Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night” as the first country song since “Old Town Road” (2019) to top the chart.
Of the 100 songs on the list, 11 country songs topped the chart, up from four last year. Mexican music and Afrobeats are also receiving a lot of attention.
On the Top 100 2023: Shazam chart, Rema’s “Calm Down” tops the list, while Ayra Starr’s “Rush” and Libianca’s “People” also finish the year among the world’s most Shazamed songs.
Also this year, and for the first time, a total of four Mexican Music songs are part of the list; In the top 20 is “Ella Baila Sola” by Peso Pluma and Eslabon Armado (No. 18), while “un x100to” by Grupo Frontera and Bad Bunny reaches No. 70.
Apple Music highlighted numerous year-end charts, such as the Top Fitness Songs chart, where British dance duo Punctual leads with “Do It All Again (feat. Jordan Shaw),” and the Top Songwriters chart, where Drake attracts more streams than any other. another composer, among others.
