Apple Watch Fitness+ lets you start guided workouts on your Apple TV while your Apple Watch tracks your vitals. Although they are generally smooth, connection errors do occur from time to time. And speaking from experience, there’s nothing worse than getting stuck with failures when you’re already warmed up and ready for an intense exercise program.
Fortunately, there are some quick fixes to help you get back on track. Follow these steps to ensure technical issues don’t derail your training.
What to do if Apple Watch Fitness+ on Apple Watch won’t connect to Apple TV
1. Check your network
Time needed: 3 minutes
Before diving into more complex solutions, check if your iPhone, Apple Watch, and Apple TV use the same Internet connection. You can’t sync Apple devices on different networks. Here’s what you should do:
- First, Apple TV, open Settings on your Apple TV and click Network > Wi-Fi
- Next, go to Settings on your iPhone and select Wi-Fi.
- Lastly, press Digital Crown on your Apple Watch, scroll down to Settings, and open Wi-Fi.
2. Unpair and re-pair your Apple Watch
Unpair and then re-pair your Apple Watch and Apple TV hardware. It is a quick and easy way to eliminate any hidden errors or errors that prevent the synchronization process.
- On your Apple TV, erase your Apple Watch.
- Next, open your Apple Watch, launch the Exercise application, and select Connect.
- Enter the code displayed on your Apple TV.
- Pair your smartwatch without leaving aside your previous backup data – start over.
- Open Fitness+ on your Apple TV and select Other when the app shows the message that says, “Who’s exercising?”
- See if your devices connect correctly.
- If so, close and restart. Physical aptitude+ on your Apple TV, but select your profile this time instead of Other.
3. Install the latest versions of tvOS, iOS and watchOS
You must update the hardware on your Apple Watch, iPhone, and Apple TV for Fitness+ to work smoothly. Otherwise, you are likely to encounter pairing errors.
Here’s how to download the latest version of iOS:
- Open Settings > General > Software update.
- Tap Download and install if an iOS update is available
You can download the latest version of watchOS here:
- press the digital crown and scroll down to Settings.
- Open General > Software update.
- Tap Download and install if a watchOS update is available.
Here’s how to download the latest version of tvOS:
- Open Settings > System.
- Low Maintenanceselect Software updates > Update the software.
- Tap Download and install if a tvOS update is available.
4. Update the Fitness app
In addition to updating your Apple devices, you should also download the latest version of Fitness+ available. Compatibility issues are more common among outdated applications.
- On your iPhone, launch the App Store.
- Input Physical aptitude in the search bar.
- Tap Update if there is a new version of the application available.
5. Restart your Apple devices
Although it is a common and generic step, it is effective in eliminating minor errors. The above solutions may produce better results after restarting your Apple Watch, Smart TV, Apple TV hardware, and iPhone.
- To restart your Apple Watch, press and hold the button digital crown and the side button until the screen turns black.
- For your Apple TV, go to Settings > Sleep now. Then, press and hold the power button on your smart TV until it restarts, or you can unplug it from the outlet.
- As for your iPhone, press and hold the button volume and power buttons until the Off screen appears.
6. Set up your HomeKit room
Create a new room in your Home just with your Apple Watch and Apple TV. I noticed that having too many accessories in the same room often causes connection errors, especially when they are all active simultaneously.
- On your iPhone, start Home And go to My Home.
- Tap on the plus symbol (+) in the upper right corner of the screen and select Add room.
- Enter your Room details and blow Save.
- Start adding the appropriate devices.
Contact Apple Support if none of the above solutions work. Unfortunately, troubleshooting can take a while, so I suggest saving it for after your workout. In the meantime, look into some alternative training apps for your Apple Watch, like Strava, Freeletics, and The Sculpt Society.
