Both OPPO and Apple have some pretty attractive flagship smartphones to offer right now. OPPOs have been launched only in the Chinese market but can be imported and used with Google services. OPPO Find X7 Ultra (China only)
Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max (Apple)
OPPO Find X7 Ultra vs Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max: Design
These two phones look completely different, as you can see in the image above. The OPPO Find X7 Ultra has a curved screen and a curved backplate, which are proportional. The iPhone 15 Pro Max has a flat front and a flat back, combined with flat sides. Not even their construction materials are the same. The OPPO Find X7 Ultra uses an aluminum frame combined with vegan leather and glass on the back (although two-thirds is vegan leather). The iPhone 15 Pro Max has a titanium frame and glass on the back.
The OPPO Find X7 Ultra has a camera hole centered on the front, with very thin bezels around it. The iPhone 15 Pro Max has a pill-shaped cutout on the front, which is also centered. Their bezels are also very thin. There is a large Oreo camera included on the back of the OPPO Find X7 Ultra. That module is also centered. The iPhone 15 Pro Max’s camera island is located in the top left corner and is more of a square than a circle.
OPPO’s flagship is a little taller and a little narrower, although a little thicker. The two phones have the same weight, although they both weigh 221 grams.
Both also offer an IP68 certification for water and dust resistance. The hand feel of these two phones is completely different. That’s perfectly normal considering how different they are. The OPPO Find X7 Ultra offers a little more grip than the iPhone 15 Pro Max. However, both are comfortable to hold and use.
OPPO Find X7 Ultra vs Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max: Screen
There is a 6.82-inch QHD+ (3168 x 1440) LTPO AMOLED display on the OPPO Find X7 Ultra. That panel is curved and can project up to a billion colors. Its refresh rate ranges from 1 to 120 H since it is adaptive. Dolby Vision is supported, as is HDR10+ content. The maximum brightness that this screen can provide, in theory, is 4,500 nits. The screen-to-body ratio is around 90% and the panel is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
The iPhone 15 Pro Max, on the other hand, has a 6.7-inch 2796 x 1290 LTPO Super Retina XDR OLED display. This display is flat. The refresh rate of its display also ranges from 1 to 120 Hz, and HDR10 content is supported here.
This panel also comes with Dolby Vision support and the maximum brightness you can get is 2000 nits. The screen-to-body ratio is around 89%, while the screen aspect ratio is 19.5:9. Ceramic Shield Glass protects this screen.
Both panels are exceptional. Both are sharp enough while viewing angles are excellent on both screens. Both are vivid and have deep blacks, while the touch response is also very good. On top of that, both screens become more than bright enough. The OPPO Find X7 Ultra gets a little brighter, but you will never lack brightness on the iPhone 15 Pro Max screen. To be honest, you can’t go wrong in terms of visualization here.
OPPO Find X7 Ultra vs Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max: Performance
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC powers the OPPO Find X7 Ultra. It is Qualcomm’s most powerful processor at the moment. OPPO also includes up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 flash storage here. The iPhone 15 Pro Max is powered by the Apple A17 Pro chip while offering 8GB of RAM and NVMe flash storage. By the way, neither phone offers storage expansion.
The two devices have very different operating systems, but both offer exceptional performance. They are very agile during daily use and both can also handle demanding games without problems. They do get hot with graphics-intensive games, but we didn’t notice any drop in performance, overheating, or anything like that. The iPhone 15 Pro Max had some issues at first, but Apple fixed it very quickly.
One thing to note is that you will need to download the Google Play Store manually on the OPPO Find X7 Ultra if you get it, as it was released only for the Chinese market. However, once you do, the phone works very well.
OPPO Find X7 Ultra vs Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max: Battery
A 5000 mAh battery is located inside the OPPO Find X7 Ultra. The iPhone 15 Pro Max has a 4,441 mAh battery. Apple iPhones typically have smaller battery packs than their Android counterparts, due to the way iOS works. However, you will be happy to know that both phones offer really good battery life. Most of the time we have been able to get more than 7 hours of screen on, although both smartphones are capable of hitting the 8 hours of screen on the mark. It all depends.
Note that we have been using both phones in ideal conditions, as they were connected to Wi-Fi most of the time, and we also did not play any games during those days. However, we pressure them in other ways. However, gaming does affect battery life, a considerable amount, and that applies to both phones. However, keep in mind that it is only noticeable if you are playing graphics-intensive games.
When it comes to charging, OPPO’s flagship simply blows away Apple’s. It supports 100W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging, and also comes with a charger in the box. iPhone 15 Pro Max supports 20W wired charging, 15W wireless (MagSafe and Qi2), 7.5W Qi wireless, and 4.5W reverse wired charging. No charger is included in the box. The OPPO Find X7 Ultra charges much faster, regardless of whether you use wired or wireless charging.
OPPO Find X7 Ultra vs Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max: Cameras
The OPPO Find X7 Ultra has four 50-megapixel cameras on the back. A 50-megapixel main camera (1-inch sensor) is backed by a 50-megapixel ultrawide unit (123-degree FoV).
Also included are two 50-megapixel periscopic telephoto cameras, one offering 2.8x optical zoom and the other offering 6x optical zoom.
This phone is also supported by Hasselblad. The iPhone 15 Pro Max, on the other hand, has three cameras on the back. A 48-megapixel main camera is backed by a 12-megapixel ultrawide unit (120-degree foV) and a 12-megapixel periscopic telephoto camera (5x optical zoom).
The images offered by these two phones are immensely different. They both do a good job, but the OPPO Find X7 Ultra is more versatile, without a doubt. The OPPO Find X7 Ultra leans more towards the contrast side of things and isn’t afraid to leave images a little darker in low-light situations.
The iPhone 15 Pro Max prefers warmer tones and has a completely different style than the OPPO flagship. Both phones provide plenty of detail during the day, although the OPPO Find X7 Ultra handles HDR situations a little better. When it comes to high-zoom shots, the OPPO Find X7 Ultra is more versatile and performs better the higher you go.
In low-light conditions, both phones do a great job. However, we ended up preferring the OPPO Find X7 Ultra’s shots most of the time because of that contrasting look. However, the iPhone 15 Pro Max also scored some great ones. Ultra-wide-angle and telephoto shots look best with the OPPO Find X7 Ultra when it comes to low-light situations. However, video recording is still the iPhone’s strong suit.
Audio
Both smartphones include a set of stereo speakers. Those speakers are very good on both phones and are more than loud enough. They are also well balanced and the quality is on par we would say.
You won’t find an audio jack on either of these two devices. Both include a Type-C port on the bottom, so you can use it for wired audio connections. Alternatively, OPPO Find X7 Ultra and iPhone 15 Pro Max come with Bluetooth 5.4 and 5.3, respectively.
