The new M3 MacBook Air laptops aren’t the only new M3s getting discounts right now: the new MacBook Pros with the M3 chip and M3 Pro are also discounted up to $300. The M3 MacBook Pro is pretty much the perfect laptop, and Apple made an 8GB RAM version with a more affordable starting price than previous generations ($400 less, to be exact).
The 14.2-inch M3 MacBook Pro
The cheapest entry-level M3 MacBook Pro has a 14.2-inch screen. This is Apple’s attempt to make the MacBook Pro a little more financially accessible. It starts with an M3 chip with an 8-core CPU, 10-core GPU, 8GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage with a list price of $1,599 ($400 less than previous entry-level MacBook Pro models).
The display is a mini LED with a resolution of 3024 by 1964 and a 120Hz screen refresh, allowing you to run games smoothly. This is something that the MacBook Air M3 and previous MacBook Pros were not as capable of doing. The MacBook Pro M3 is a great alternative for those looking for more power than the MacBook Air M3 and who also want to have a good screen for gaming. You can read PCMag’s “excellent” review here.
The 14.2-inch M3 MacBook Pro
The $400 list price difference between the M3 and M3 Pro MacBook Pro laptops is misleading. The M3 Pro chip is much better in terms of value than the M3 for those looking for the best performance and those who can afford it. It comes with 18GB of RAM (10GB more than the base M3 MacBook Pro), an 11-core CPU, and a 14-core M3 Pro GPU chip.
You also get about eight hours more battery life than the 14.2-inch M3 MacBook Pro. The M3 Pro is simply a more powerful engine, although there are no screen upgrades, so if RAM and chip processing power aren’t what you’re looking for, the standard M3 MacBook Pro will save you some money.

The 16.2-inch M3 MacBook Pro
The 16.2-inch MacBook Pro M3 Pro is very similar to the 14.2-inch MacBook Pro M3. The main obvious difference is the larger screen, but you also get a more powerful M3 Pro chip with a 12-core CPU and 18-core GPU, about four hours more battery life, and a mini-backlit Liquid Retina XDR display.
LED with 3,456 by 2,234-pixel resolution. Those upgrades result in a significantly higher price, starting at $2,499, but you can usually find this one up to $300 off on Amazon.
This is a good option if you want more screen real estate and more power than the 14.2-inch model offers, but don’t want to spend around $3,000 for the M3 Max chip.
