Since the launch of the iPhone 15, the general public and analysts bent over their laptops have been trying to figure out when Apple will jump wholeheartedly on the AI bandwagon. Famously, Apple even refused to use the phrase “artificial intelligence” in favor of “machine learning” until very recently.
Call it what you want, but with the entire world obsessed with AI, Apple could no longer ignore this new technology if it did not want to hurt its iPhone business. Now, it’s become pretty clear that Apple is very interested in AI considering the activity around the topic that’s happening across the company. Even CEO Tim Cook has gone on record saying that Apple will break new ground in GenAI.
What that means is that the upcoming iPhone 16 will include every type of AI feature imaginable. Notably, AI in the iPhone 16 will arrive via iOS 18 software, and the new A18 chip for the smartphone will add more power to its capabilities. It has an improved neural engine to run AI.

And once iOS 18 is released, it will also come to all older eligible models including iPhone 15, iPhone 14, iPhone 13, etc. But while the AI features will likely be available on the iPhone 16 device, older iPhones will be able to access them over the internet as they won’t be able to handle the load with their older chips.
And then there’s Siri. Apple’s assistant has been a big part of the reasons why people buy iPhones. However, it was arguably not as smart as Amazon Alexa or, indeed, Google Assistant.
But AI is set to add intelligence to Siri and is expected to shine as a much more powerful model that could compete on equal terms with any other.
The Apple Messages app could also integrate AI to automatically answer questions and complete sentences. This was suggested by Bloomberg columnist Mark Gurman.
Another area where Apple could be catching up to others is image editing. Both Google and Samsung smartphones have moved ahead of Apple in this regard with their AI-powered image editors. However, it has now been reported that Apple has partnered with a company to work on this project, but not much is known about it yet.
Will all this action translate into an iPhone 16 that the world would want to buy? Considering that smartphones from Google and Samsung have advanced, it will be a difficult task for Apple to carry out. But over the years, he has done it again and again.
