SANTIAGO,RD/ HEALTH DIARY.- As part of its commitment to making Excellence Available to All, by offering a quality service to the population, the Board of Directors and the Imaging Department of the Unión Medica del Norte university clinic inaugurated the Nuclear Medicine Unit of this health center.
The welcoming remarks were given by Dr. Julián Sued, President of the Board of Directors, who said that on such a special afternoon, it was appropriate to highlight the achievements of the clinic over the past 27 years, during which time it has experienced exponential development, adapting technology throughout the institution.
“The main reason for our presence here this afternoon is that the large investments made by the Unión Médica university clinic are aimed at making accurate diagnoses, in order to provide better treatment to patients,” he said.
He said that all this investment is directed towards the improvement and good treatment of patients who go to this clinic, which is why they are inaugurating this modern Gammagraphy unit, with a modern high-generation camera, for the diagnosis of tumors and inflammatory diseases of any part of the body.
“Whether it be lung, bone, breast, thyroid, pancreas, kidney, and also for the performance of cardiac scintigraphy, unique in the entire Cibao region, the latter performed by highly trained personnel, in this case a nuclear cardiologist,” he said.
In this regard, Sued thanked the presence of each one of those who attended such an important activity, on a rainy afternoon, which predicts a unique future in the inauguration of said unit.
Mr. Guillermo de Peña, representative of the company that provided the modern equipment, offered details of the benefits and quality provided by this machine, and thanked the institution for having trusted them.
Meanwhile, Dr. Claudia Castillo Viñas, a nuclear physician at that institution, who is in charge of said unit, explained that nuclear medicine is nothing more than a diagnostic specialty, through functional imaging, which uses radioisotopes and nuclear radiation for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.
Also Dr. Cecilia Isabel Jiménez, who offered details of the different cardiac studies and procedures that are performed through this machine and the patients who undergo these procedures.
Meanwhile, Dr. Luis Liriano, who was in charge of the closing remarks, said that the start-up of this unit is a reason for joy for the company, due to the implementation of nuclear medicine.
The blessing of the new department equipped with the latest technology equipment and highly qualified personnel was led by Father Pablo Ariel López, where the provincial governor Rosa Santos was also present and representing the mayor was the vice president of the Chapter House, engineer Frank Medina.
Also participating were Dr. Javiela Tejada, Medical Director; Dr. Luis Liriano, head of the clinic’s Imaging Department; Dr. Marino Pérez, Fausto Hernández and Rafael Ulerio, members of the Board.
