Two Delta Air Lines workers were killed and one was injured Tuesday morning after a tire exploded at a company facility in the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport of Atlantaofficials said. The airline confirmed the incident and the loss of its employees in a statement provided to KeynoteUSA.
“The Delta family is heartbroken by the loss of two team members and the injury of another following an incident this morning at the Atlanta Technical Operations Maintenance Facility (TOC 3),” the airline said.
They also noted that they are providing their full support to the families and colleagues during this incredibly difficult time, and confirmed that an investigation is underway in collaboration with local authorities.
The incident, which occurred at the facility of Delta TechOpsa maintenance unit near the airport, was also highlighted by Fox Business, who interviewed John Laughterchief operating officer of Delta TechOps.

“I am deeply sorry to inform you that three members of the TechOps team were involved in an accident that took place early this morning at Atlanta Operations Center 3, Department 391, Wheel and Brake Shop. Tragically, two of our team members involved were killed and another team member was seriously injured,” Laughter told Fox Business.
The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workersa union representing airline workers in the United States, also issued a statement extending its condolences to the families of the victims of the incident.
“As a union dedicated to the well-being and safety of our members and the community at large, we will offer our resources to all those affected by this tragic event,” the group said.
The mayor of Atlanta, Andrew Dickensexpressed his condolences to the families of the deceased employees on social media. Through his X account, he said: “My thoughts are also with the injured and I hope they recover quickly and completely.”
