a woman of Saint Raphaelin California, accused of murdering her mother in January, has changed her plea to not guilty after pleading that she suffers from insanity. The change of statement was made by Tonantzyn Oris Beltran29, during an appearance before the judge Geoffrey Howard in it Marin County Superior Courtas reported by the New York Post.
Beltran, who previously worked as an escort, will now face an evaluation of her mental health. “Judge Howard ordered that she be examined by psychiatrists to see if she meets the legal definition of insanity,” noted the East Bay Times.
The magistrate warned the accused that she could face two trials: one to determine if she committed the crime and another to evaluate her mental state. If her condition is legally supported, she could be sent to a state hospital or mental health treatment center.
The incident occurred on January 8, when the woman was arrested by San Rafael police after a confrontation at an apartment complex in Crest Way. The accusation stated that he stabbed his mother, Olivia Beltran Pachecowhile doing a live broadcast for Facebook. Said video was removed from the platform.
The deceased, 55 years old, was violently attacked on the balcony of her home, according to the police. The officers found Beltran with a knife in his hand, next to the body of his wounded mother, and his clothes were soaked in blood. “Residents who witnessed the event live before it was removed reported the situation to the San Rafael police,” noted the New York Post.
According to Mercury News, when officers finally entered the apartment, Pacheco was still alive, but she later died at a local hospital.

The defendant’s history of substance and alcohol abuse is also part of the case. “Drugs gave me escape, relief, false happiness, they were like a self-medicating bandage,” Beltran told Mercury News.
The woman also commented that she had a conflictive relationship with her mother despite the love she gave her. “I was homeless for a while, because I felt very hateful towards my mother. “I didn’t know where that came from, but I couldn’t change that feeling, even though she seems like a saint and always loved me immensely,” he told the media.
During the court appearance, Beltran, accompanied by her defense attorney Matthew Sirokacalmly responded to the judge’s questions. The East Bay Times reported that the legal advocate declined to comment on the case. Beltran’s next hearing is scheduled for December 12.
Extensive coverage of the case shows how an act of domestic violence can be linked to untreated mental problems, highlighting the importance of mental health care and family support.
