A new scandal against the government of the president of the United States, Joe Biden, broke out this Monday, August 26, after a letter was revealed in which Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, revealed that The current Administration put pressure on the digital platform to remove or censor certain content related to Covid-19.
“In 2021, senior Biden Administration officials, including the White House, repeatedly pressured our teams for months to censor certain Covid-19-related content, including humor and satire, and expressed great frustration when we did not meet their demands,” he said.

Meta’s CEO made it clear that it was ultimately the company’s decision whether or not to remove the content in question, including some coronavirus-related modifications that were made in the “application of the rules” and in response to this pressure that was presented.
Mark Zuckerberg just admitted three things:
1. Biden-Harris Admin “pressured” Facebook to censor Americans.
2. Facebook censored Americans.
3. Facebook throttled the Hunter Biden laptop story.

“As I told our teams at the time, I firmly believe that we should not compromise our content standards because of pressure from any administration in any direction, and we are prepared to resist if something like this happens again,” he said.

In another section of the letter, Meta’s CEO spoke about an episode that occurred with the famous story of Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, which had very little visibility on the platform, as well as a great deal of misinformation. Zuckerberg confessed that he had censored the topic at the time.
“The FBI warned us about a possible Russian disinformation operation targeting the Biden family ahead of the 2020 electionThat fall, when we saw a New York Post story reporting on corruption allegations involving the family of then-Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, We sent that story to fact-checkers for review and temporarily demoted it while we awaited a response,” he said.
The letter has sparked strong reactions on social media, but so far the Biden administration has not commented on the pressures that were apparently exerted on Meta.
