Mariah Carey reveals that her mother and sister died on the same day: “My heart is broken”

In a recent exclusive statement to KeynoteUSAsinger Mariah Carey expressed her deep sorrow after losing her mother and sister on the same day over the weekend. “My heart is broken by the death of my mother this past weekend. Tragically, in a turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day.”the Grammy-winning star said. Carey, 55, also said she is grateful to have been able to share the last week with her mother before her passing. The singer asked for respect for her privacy during this difficult time.

Mariah Carey was born into a family of musicians. His mother, Patricia Careywas a prestigious soprano trained at Juilliard and worked as a voice teacher. Patricia was married to Alfred Roy Carey before having her three children: Alison, Mariahand MorganThe couple divorced when Mariah was just three years old.

Mariah’s relationship with her mother was always complex, a dynamic the singer described in her 2020 memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey.Like many aspects of my life, my relationship with my mother has been full of contradictions and competing realities. It’s never been just black and white – it’s been a real rainbow of emotions,” the singer wrote in her book, where she also described their relationship as “a thorny noose of pride, pain, shame, gratitude, jealousy, admiration and disappointment.”

Despite her ups and downs, Mariah maintained a relationship with her mother, even performing a Christmas duet together on an KeynoteUSA special in 2010 titled Mariah Carey: Merry Christmas to You. In her memoir, Mariah also dedicated a section to Patricia, stating: “And to Pat, my mother, who, despite everything, I believe really did the best she could. I will love her as best I can, always.”

Mariah’s relationship with her sister Alison was even more difficult. In the same book, the artist revealed that she found it emotionally and physically safer not to have contact with Alison or Morgan at the time.

It is worth mentioning that in 2021, Alison sued Mariah for the publication of her memoir. In this lawsuit, the singer’s older sister demanded a minimum of USD 1.25 million dollars for “the infliction of immense emotional distress caused by the ruthless, vicious, vindictive, despicable and totally unnecessary public humiliation of the defendant’s already deeply damaged older sister.”

Mariah’s older sister, Alison, became a prostitute and contracted HIV. After a life-threatening accident, she tried to contact her successful sister, but never received a response.

In the book, Mariah claims, among other things, that her sister “prostituted” her instead of taking care of her, leaving her alone with a boyfriend who ended up becoming inappropriate when Mariah was only 12 years old and Alison was 20.

“When I was 12 years old, My sister drugged me with Valium, offered me a pinky nail full of cocaine, inflicted third-degree burns on me, and tried to sell me to a pimp. Something in me was stopped by all that trauma. That’s why I often say: ‘I am eternally twelve.’

In 2016, various media outlets reported that Alison had contracted HIV and was a former prostitute. The eldest Carey sister desperately searched for Mariah due to an accident she had in Hawaii where her life was put at high risk. Morgan, the middle brother who also had legal problems with Mariah, denounced the lack of support from his younger sister when Alison was on the verge of death.

In her autobiography, Mariah claimed that her sister tried to sell her to a pimp, burned her skin and drugged her on several occasions.

“Luckily Alison made a miraculous recovery but now needs brain and spinal surgery or she will end up in hospital any day now. Alison has been trying desperately to locate Mariah. But she has never received an answer.”.

No further details have yet been released regarding the cause of death of Patricia and Alison Carey.
