Lady Gaga She is enjoying a new creative era in her artistic career with her partner and fiancé, Michael Polansky. Regarding the premiere of the long-awaited film Joker: Folie à Deux, Gaga revealed how her relationship with the businessman has transformed her life and how they have collaborated on her new album Harlequin, a musical extension of the film.
During the premiere of the sequel to joker in Los Angeles on September 30, 2024, Lady Gaga shared details with KeynoteUSA about what it meant to work with Polansky on Harlequin. “It’s the first time we decided to just jump in and do it. It just felt right.“said the 38-year-old artist on the event’s red carpet.
The album, released on Friday, September 27, is a collection of classic songs, which Gaga and Polansky creatively reinterpreted to tell their character’s story, harley quinn. Of the 13 items on the tracklist, 111 are covers and two are original songs.

Gaga’s boyfriend served as co-executive producer of the project and was also accredited, along with his fiancee, in the song rewriting. Some of them are “Good Morning”, “Get Happy”, “Oh, When the Saints” and “If My Friends Could See Me Now”. These songs received a modern twist, both sonically and lyrically.
“I love my fiancé so much,” Gaga said emotionally. “He is my best friend. He is my companion, and I just feel like when you’re with your best friend, everything changes.”, he confessed about the Harlequin process.
The romance of Lady Gaga and the philanthropist emerged around 2020 when they were seen sharing kisses at a party in Las Vegas. After a few months, the star officially presented her new love on Instagram at the time of the Super Bowl 2020 in Miami.

Recently, during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the pop star introduced Michael as her fiancé while greeting the Prime Minister of France, Gabriel Attal.
Gaga describes this work as a tribute to the complexity of the Harley Quinn characterwhom he plays in Joker: Folie à Deux. As she explained to Entertainment Weekly, the idea behind the album was “to do something to celebrate the complexity of a woman who has danger within her and, at the same time, sweetness.”
In statements to said medium, the protagonist of a star is born explained that Polansky also shared the intense emotional experience she experienced when playing Harley Quinn, an immersion similar to the one she experienced when she played Patrizia Reggiani in House of Gucci (2021).
Gaga described the album as a tribute to the complexity of her character, Harley Quinn (X/LadyGaga).
According to the artist, her partner not only understood this metamorphosis, but also contributed to it through his work on the album. “Michael also got to know Lee (Harley Quinn) quite well, and that’s why we conceived this project together. “We wanted to push the sonic boundaries to tell her story in a vibrant, tense and pure way,” he told Gaga.
“I think it’s a beautiful thing when you can, with your partner, share an artistic experience that might be difficult for some people.. But, Michael understands me so well that we really managed to give birth to this album,” he declared. “His understanding of Lee in our daily lives while the film was being filmed helped him be an incredible collaborator.”
Joker: Folie à Deux opens in theaters on October 3 and continues the story of Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix) after he is admitted to Arkham State Hospital. It is in this health center where the man finds love in a patient named Lee (Gaga).

The film explores the romance of both characters and the legal process against Fleck for the crimes committed in the previous film. A characteristic that distinguishes this sequel is the musical sequences that have been inserted to nuance the story.
