The news was confirmed on Monday, August 26, by the Union of Actors and Actresses of Spain, through its social networks. Although the official cause of his death has not yet been revealed, Spanish media reports that Ortega died by drowning.
The newspaper El Mundo reported that Ortega died on Sunday after drowning on a beach in Barbate, Cadiz, according to municipal sources. KeynoteUSA also confirmed that the actor lost his life while bathing on the beach of Zahora, after witnesses alerted 112, around 5:30 pm, about a man who had been rescued from the water with symptoms of drowning.
Europa Press recalled that Ortega was part of some of the most successful series in Spain, such as 4 stars, Elite and The People. Regarding this last experience, the actor said: “It has been a privilege to be surrounded by my brothers Alberte Montes, Sergio Villanueva, Helena Lanza, Dani Pérez Prada, Ana Arias, Paco Collado, Carlos Areces and so many others who have made me learn and freak out.”
