San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama can call an Atlanta Hawks superstar his teammate, and the towering French center is reportedly “intrigued” by the connection.
Trade rumors surrounding Atlanta’s Trae Young have been circulating since the team won the NBA Draft lottery for the first time in franchise history and the Spurs have been named as a potential destination.
According to Keynote USA, trade rumors linking Young to San Antonio have piqued Wembanyama’s interest.
“I will say that I have spoken to people who know Wemby and they have indicated that he is at least intrigued by the idea,” McMahon said in The Hoop Collective.

“Now, intrigue for that idea and hitting the table are two very different things. “I have no idea if Gregg Popovich would be intrigued by the idea.”
Young averaged a solid 25.7 points and 10.8 assists per game this season, but it ultimately wasn’t enough to lead Atlanta to the playoffs.
Even if Young doesn’t end up as Wembanyama’s teammate, ESPN Insider Adrian Wojnarowski expects the 25-year-old to make purchases.
“They had Dejounte Murray in trade talks. I think the possibility of trade talks involving Trae Young this spring and summer is also very real,” Wojnarowski said during lottery coverage.
Young will pocket A$65 million next season and has three years left on his contract with the Hawks.
Despite securing the second and 26th picks in the first round of the NBA Draft, the Washington Wizards reportedly want to add more to their haul.
By HoopsHypeThe Wizards hope to add another first-round pick as they look to build the team for future success through the draft.
The Wizards may also have to start planning for the future without Kyle Kuzma, who is once again expected to be a trade target for other teams.
Kuzma was very close to being transferred to the Dallas Mavericks, who competed in the Western Conference semifinals against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Washington standout has been with the franchise since 2021 after he was traded as part of a deal that brought Russell Westbrook to the Los Angeles Lakers.
The New Orleans Pelicans may have to decide on Brandon Ingram as he enters the final year of his contract.
And according to NBA insider Marc Stein, it appears the Pelicans are going to do everything they can to move Ingram elsewhere.
Stein says the Pelicans will “aggressively explore” a trade for Ingram, who was the No. 2 pick in the 2016 NBA Draft.
There is a possibility that Ingram could extend his contract with New Orleans, but according to The Times-Picayune’s Christian Clark, the franchise would not be willing to give him a full maximum contract.
Ingram is eligible to sign a four-year extension worth up to $314 million, but the Pelicans could view that price as too expensive for a player who has missed an alarming 82 games over the past three years.
